Salsa as a term became popular in the 1970s in the USA. It became associated with all things Cuban, including the dance Casino. Even Cubans themselves sometimes use "salsa" to describe Casino, due to the widespread understanding of the term.

In this course we will teach you the basic figures of “Salsa”, the fundamentals of leading and following and a broad spectrum of body movements completely new for you.

Casino Cubano, or simply Casino, isn't just another salsa style. It's the fiery heart of Cuban salsa, born in 1950s Havana. Imagine the smooth Son dance infused with the infectious energy of Cha Cha Cha and Mambo - that's Casino. Forget complex steps, it's about feeling the music in playful improvisation with your partner.

In this course we deepen into the basic figures and we will “play” with them. We will add some extra spice to your movements with some Styling moves to implement in your Social Dancing. And last, we will work a lot on musicality to understand the complex rhythms that cuban music offers.

Son Cubano isn't just music, it's a story whispered on the wind. It's the fusion of passionate Spanish melodies and the irresistible energy of African drumming.

Born in the eastern highlands of Cuba in the 19th century, Son Cubano is danced in a very elegant and smooth way. Different from Casino, Son is danced on Contratiempo, so here we will also teach you good musical background.

It all started in front of the big Casinos in la Havanna in the early 1950s. Cubans met ther and stared dancing togehter in big groups, where one “cantante” shoute the figure that the rest of them had to dance simultanouly. The main goal is to enjoy together and do as many difficult things as the flow of the Rueda allows

The Guaguancó is a fiery conversation on the dance floor, a captivating display of Cuban soul set to a relentless rhythm. It's a racy dance of seduction between a man and a woman, a playful chase where the man tries to "catch" his partner, only to be met with her playful defiance and captivating footwork.

It is born from the streets, its rhythm a powerful heartbeat echoing generations of African and Cuban ancestry. The music is a relentless conversation between drums, singer, and choir, creating a raw and primal energy that pulls you in.

The body movements of Guaguancó are the base of Men- and Ladiesstyling when dancing salsa.

Reggaeton is a high-energy music genre that blends the infectious rhythms of Latin music, like salsa and dancehall, with the swagger of hip-hop beats and rapping. Born in the streets of Panama and Puerto Rico in the late 1980s, it's sung primarily in Spanish and features catchy melodies and often provocative lyrics. Reggaeton's popularity initially boomed in Latin America, but its irresistible energy transcended language barriers. Today, it's a global phenomenon, setting dance floors on fire in clubs and parties worldwide. One of the most famous singers is the worldwide known Daddy Yankee.

Developing your solo dancing skills in salsa is crucial for feeling confident when letting go of your partner. By practicing footwork, body isolations, and musicality on your own, you build a strong foundation that translates into smoother movement and better expression. This self-confidence allows you to navigate the dance floor independently during shines (solo sections) and trust your partner to lead or follow seamlessly when you reconnect.
